What is recorded here

This white commemorative plaque records: John Russell (1898-1958). Last miller and owner of Cranbrook Union Windmill. John Russell saved Cranbrook Union Windmill from demolition by refusing a large sum of money from developers. Instead, he sold the mill and the very valuable surrounding land to Kent County Council for just one shilling in return for their promise to preserve the windmill. Recorded plaque organisation: Cranbrook Heritage.

A plaque record does not grant entry to a building or private land. View it from a public place unless permission is clearly given.
