This bronze commemorative plaque records: Rev. Gilbert Wakefield B.A. 1747 - 1822 Born Nottingham. Tutor in Belles Lettres at Warrington Academy 1779-1783 and resided here during that time. Formerly a fellow of Jesus College, Cambridge. Died in London. Recorded plaque organisation: Warrington Society (under the terms of the Arthur Bennett Bequest).
