This blue commemorative plaque records: Webster's Ropery (originally built in 1893) After a long and eventful history this, the World's first patent ropeworks became derelict and remained so for many years. Restored between 1985 and 1987, the Ropery now provides commercial and leisure facilities. Recorded plaque organisation: Borough of Sunderland.
