This blue commemorative plaque records: Queen Alexandra Bridge. This double-decked road and rail bridge was opened in 1909 for the N.E.R. to transport coal to the South Docks. Its lattice girder construction is the heaviest ever built and has a span of 330 ft. Recorded plaque organisation: Borough of Sunderland.
