This blue commemorative plaque records: The Savoy Theatre occupies what has been called the oldest theatre site in Wales, dating back to Elizabethan times. In 1927 the building was restored as 'The New Picture House', and the first talking picture was shown in 1930. Recorded plaque organisation: Monmouth Civic Society.
