This blue commemorative plaque records: Carnegie Birthplace On 25th November 1835, Andrew Carnegie was born in this humble 17th century weaver's cottage. The Carnegie family lived in one room upstairs and another family lived in the adjoining cottage. The adjacent Memorial Hall (by architect James Shearer) was added in 1928.
