This black commemorative plaque records: 28 Argyle Street, Birkenhead This building was once known as the 'Argyle Assembly Rooms' and was the venue for a series of meetings during the American Civil War. At one meeting on 18th January 1893 vote was taken, with unanimous support,for the end of slavery and for a letter to be sent to President Abraham Lincoln Recorded plaque organisation: Civil War Discovery Trail.
