This blue commemorative plaque records: Air Chief Marshal Sir Augustus Walker GCB, CBE, DSO, DFC, AFC, Ld'H, CdeG Was born in Garforth and brought up in this house. Serving in the RAF 1934-70, he rose to its highest ranks. An inspirational figure, he led daring bombing raids with 50 Squadron on industrial targets in Germany, and commanded a series of bomber stations during World War II. 1912-1986 Recorded plaque organisation: Garforth Historical Society.
