This bronze commemorative plaque records: On Friday 1st September 1939, two days before the outbreak of the 2nd World War thousands of Salford's children were evacuated. Many left from Ordsall Lane railway station which was near the site of the is building. Their parents said goodbye not knowing if they would see them again. Spare a thought for their sacrifice and disruption to their lives. Recorded plaque organisation: Timpson.
