What is recorded here

This green commemorative plaque records: 7 Stramongate. This 16th century house was formerly owned by the Billinghams, one of the great Westmorland landowners. Part of it was later occupied by Agnes Harker, sister of Capt. Cook, the circumnavigator. Probably the oldest building in use as a shop in Kendal, it was restored in 1985. Recorded plaque organisation: Kendal Civic Society.

A plaque record does not grant entry to a building or private land. View it from a public place unless permission is clearly given.
