Killen Cormac, Colbinstown, County Kildare: a broken ogham fragment, once a grave marker for Mac-Deichet son of Marinus, was reused in a wall. Its edges suggest hammers, not time; its name suggests pride, not decay. A man was remembered, then the memory was dragged into building. The stone did not disappear, it changed jobs.

This stone (KD032-044002-) is one of seven ogham stones from 'Kileen Cormac' burial ground at Colbinstown, Co. Kildare (KD032-044----). It consists of a fragment of a stone that had been broken up and re-used in the construction of a wall (Macalister 1945, 22, 24-5, no. 20). The inscription read (from paper cast) MAQI-DDEC[CEDA] MAQI MARIN ('of Mac-Deichet son of Marinus'). This stone has been studied as part of the ‘Ogham in 3D’ project undertaken by the School of Celtic Studies, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
