Knockshanawee is a ringfort where six ogham stones formed an underground passage, and this is the present location of the seventh lintel. The stone is 1.9m long, 0.4m wide and 0.3m deep, large enough to span a narrow chamber yet small enough for one person to carry with both hands. Power, Macalister and McManus read BRANI MAQQi Mu[C]C in its marks, while faint scores below suggested R[A]L. It may have been a threshold, a marker or a door into a buried room where people passed with torchlight and fear.

This is the present location of one of six ogham stones found in a Man-made underground passage (CO072-078002-) in a ringfort (CO072-078001-) at Knockshanawee, Co Cork (see CO072-078007-). This stone (1.9m; 0.4m x 0.3m) was the seventh lintel. The inscription was read by Power (1932, 18, no. 14), Macalister (1945, 114-5, no. 116) and McManus (2004, 16, no. 6) as BRANI MAQQi Mu[C]C... .
