What is recorded here

This green commemorative plaque records: Coltsgate Hill Chapel. This former Wesleyan Methodist Chapel was erected in 1861, replacing an earlier building in which John Wesley preached in 1780. Worship ended here in 1963 when the chapel merged with Allhallowgate Methodist Church. The derelict building was restored in 1997 by Lishman, Sidwell, Campbell & Price. Recorded plaque organisation: Ripon Civic Society.
Coltsgate Hill Chapel, established in 1861, holds historical significance as a site where John Wesley preached in 1780, contributing to the spread of Methodism; the building's restoration in 1997 preserved its legacy as an important place of worship and community gathering.

A plaque record does not grant entry to a building or private land. View it from a public place unless permission is clearly given.
