Castlestead is an archaeological place in North Yorkshire, England. Perhaps a timber castle stood there before rot and fire took it. Maybe people built rooms, defended them and left them empty. Imagine the wood returning to soil while the shape stayed visible long enough for others to draw it.
Possible timber castle site, but all visible remains have gone now. Shown as oblong on OS 1854 map.
