Castledykes - Bothwellhaugh - Balmuildy (?)

Roman Road (roman)

What is recorded here

Mud, not marble, recorded the Roman drive through Bothwellhaugh. The road still belongs to Castledykes and Balmuildy, though the name of one end remains uncertain. Wheels may have worn the earth flat while men walked beside them, and the haugh may have given up water in return for passage.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castledykes - Bothwellhaugh - Balmuildy (?) as Roman Road (roman). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
