The Battle of Largs (2 October 1263) was a battle between the kingdoms of Norway and Scotland, on the Firth of Clyde near Largs, Scotland. The conflict formed part of the Norwegian expedition against Scotland in 1263, in which Haakon Haakonsson, King of Norway attempted to reassert Norwegian sovereignty over the western seaboard of Scotland.
The Battle of Largs was fought between Norwegian forces under King Haakon IV and Scottish forces under King Alexander III on 2 October 1263 near Largs, Scotland. Although the battle was indecisive, it marked the end of Norwegian attempts to control the Western Isles and mainland Scotland, leading to the eventual Scottish victory in the region.
