Four houses are marked on the Down Survey (1656-8) parish map of Carne at Churchtown (5) close to the church (WX053-033001-). According to the Book of Survey and Distribution (1660s) 72 acres in Churchtown were owned in 1640 by James Codd of Clough East (WX053-032001-), who also owned 118 acres in Clough East, Loginshere, Crossland, and Ballyfray (Ballask and Carna) townlands (Simington 1953, 305). The precise location of this house is not known.
