What is recorded here

The Down Survey barony map (1656-8) shows a windmill in Ballykelsh townland, then part of Hillcastle townland (9) in Kilscoran parish where Mathew Hay owned 98 acres in 1640 (Simington 1953, 304). A windmill is marked on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map at Ballykelsh but it cannot be certain that it is at the same location, and this feature does not survive. For the Down Survey barony map see this web-page accessed on 17 December, 2013: http://downsurvey.tcd.ie/down-survey-maps.php#bm=Forth&c=Wexford Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 3 January, 2014

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
