What is recorded here

A watermill is marked on the Down Survey barony map of Forth (1656-8) at Ballydouskar in Killinick parish (Hore 1925, 10), and 56 acres at Ballydonskar was owned by John Synnott in 1640 (Simington 1953, 303). The location of the mill is not known. See the attached view from the Down Survey barony map (N at right) reproduced courtesy of the National Library of Ireland (Ms 725). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload; 22 October, 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
