What is recorded here

Oliver Keating was the owner of the manor of Kilcowan at the time of his death in March 1629 (Jeffrey 1979, 78-9). This consisted of a castle (WX046-042001-), a hall, an orchard, a messuage or house and appurtenances, and at least two cottages. The hall is probably no more than a stone house and might have been what was described as a tower in another inquisition in 1631 (ibid. 79). Being described as a hall it would be close to the castle and could be regarded as attached to it. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 20 August, 2013
