Located just off the crest of the SW end of a low NE-SW ridge. This is the site of the parish church of Carrick depicted faintly as a small rectangular structure (L c. 10m) situated towards the SW edge of a subcircular or a D-shaped graveyard (dims c. 80m ENE-WSW; c. 60m NNW-SSE) on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. There are no visible remains of a church or of burial at ground level, apart from a circular granite basin (ext. diam. 0.92-0.94m; int. diam. 0.48-0.51m; D 0.23m), possibly an unfinished font, set in the ground on the site of the church. There is no evidence of a drain-hole, and the flat upper surface of the rim (Wth c. 0.2m) has 8 or 9 shallow hollows (diam. 0.12-0.16m; D 0.03m). The purpose of the hollows is not known, but it may be connected to the quarrying and carving of the stone. Three crosses located c. 300m to the NE (WX045-037001-; WX045-037002-; WX045-037003-) are thought to have come from this site.
