What is recorded here

The site of St Nicholas' Well where the pattern was held on the 6th December according to John O’Donovan c. 1840 (O’Flanagan 1933, vol. 2, 148) is located within the bawn (WX045-012002-) associated with the church of the Augustinian friars (WX045-012003-). It is not visible at ground level but a resistivity survey identified a structure, perhaps a paved area that might have been associated with the well, near its site (Byrne 1994-5, 71). The church of St. Nicholas (WX045-012007-) is c. 180m to the WSW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 22 July, 2013
