What is recorded here

According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) Alexander Rossiter owned a ‘weir out of repair’ located ‘on a little river near (the castle WX041-015----)’ in 1640 (Simington 1953, 83). The little stream is probably one of the streams S of the castle on the border with Marshalstown, but the location of the mill is not precisely known. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
