What is recorded here

Located on the outer edge of a shelf on a SW-facing slope. This is an oval grass and scrub-covered area (dims c. 38m NNW-SSE; 26m ENE-WSW) defined by a slight earthen bank (Wth 7.8-8.5m; int. H 0.3-0.7m; ext. H 0.7-0.9m) with the remains of an outer fosse (Wth of top 5.2-7.5m; D 0.4-0.4m). Beyond the fosse is a berm (Wth 11m at NE; 4m at SW) defined by a low bank or scarp (max. H 0.8m) (max. ext. dim. ENE-WSW 58m). The outer scarp is truncated by NE-SW field banks at NW and SE. There is no identifiable entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload/revision: 24 January, 2013
