What is recorded here

There are two shallow niches at ground level in the N wall of the chancel of Dunbrody Abbey (WX039-030001-), which were for tombs. One may have held an effigy from a wall-tomb said to have been of Hervey wearing chain-mail beneath ecclesiastical robes (Brewer 1825, 375; Hore 1900-11, vol. 3, 19-20; Hunt 1974, vol. 1, 237) that is now lost but was probably spurious (Manning 1997, 116-8).
