What is recorded here

First identified in centre-line testing (00E0379) for the re-alignment of the N25 Wexford town to New Ross road (Elder and Tierney 2002), and completely excavated (00E0474) subsequently. It is situated in the valley of a small NE-SW stream which is c. 30m to the W. Spreads of broken and burnt stone (dims 8m E-W; 4m N-S; T 0.04-0.18m) overlay a rectangular trough (dims. 1.8m E-W; 1.54m N-S; D 0.28m) with traces of a plank-lining and some posts that may have supported it. Oak charcoal from the fill produced a C14 date of cal BC 710-530. (Noonan 2002; Noonan and Johnston 2006) Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 8 November, 2012
