According to Sheil (1921, 116) there was a castle in Macmine between the village of Bree and the River Slaney in addition to the known tower house (WX032-001----). This may be the same as (WX031-012----) but is otherwise unknown.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
