Marked as a rectangular embanked or moated enclosure (ext. dims. c. 60m NW-SE; c. 55m NE-SW) on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on the floor of a NW-SE valley with a stream c. 20m to the SW. This is a rectangular area (dims. 50m NW SE; 33m NE SW) defined by earthen banks (Wth 5-6m; int. H 0.4-1m; ext. H 1.5-1.8m) with an outer moat (Wth of top 5-7.5m; Wth of base 2.2-3m; ext. D 0.3 at NW and SE; 0.8m at SW and 1.5m at NE). There are breaks in the NW and SE banks, but that towards the E end of the NE bank (Wth 3.5m) is the most likely entrance. The interior is planted with coniferous trees. (Barry 1977, 226, WX 107)
