The Society of Friends held meetings in New Ross from 1660, but there was no Meeting House until one was built in the late 18th century in the Priory Lane area. This was replaced by another Meeting House in 1827 on the same lane that is still extant (Butler, D. M. 2004, 77-8). The burial ground may date from the 17th century, and it is situated towards the top of a SW-facing slope and over 500m outside the walls of the medieval town on the S side. It is a rectangular area (dims. c. 60m E-W; c. 20m N-S) defined by stone-faced earthen banks and hedges on all sides except the W where there is a high masonry wall with an arched gateway to a N-S public road. There are about 12 grave mounds at the E end, but there are no headstones.
