From O’Mahony, A. (1987, 15, No. 5) Attached to the north wall of the Chancel is a tomb (Wth 0.97m; H 2.21m; T 0.12m) with a central cross and an inscription around the edge of the stone. It reads:
Hic. Jacet. Georgius. Dormer. Armiger. quonda. iudex. comitatus. Wexfordiae. ac. burgensis. et. superior huius. villae. novae rospontis. q. obijt. tertio. die. mesis. octobris. a(o) dni. 1594 aetatis vero die 54.
(Here lies George Dormer, Esquire, formerly magistrate of the County of Wexford and burgess and sovereign of this town of New Ross, who died on the third day of the month of October, in the year of Our Lord 1594, aged 54 to the day.)*
