What is recorded here

Marked only on the 1940 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and located and located in woodland established before 1839 (OS map) on a steep N-facing slope down from the site of Greenmount House and overlooking the NE-SW River Slaney, which is c. 220m to the NW. It is on a terrace N of the more southerly of two E-W forest lanes. This is an oval enclosure (int. dims. 7m E-W; 5.2m N-S) defined by the remains of a collapsed drystone wall. It is one of at least six similar enclosures and may be part of an ornamental landscape. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 31 May, 2012
