What is recorded here

Marked faintly as a rectangular enclosure (dims. c. 65m NE-SW; c. 55m NW-SE) and described as the site of a fort on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. It is located just off the S-facing crest of a slight shelf in the foothills of the Blackstairs Mountains. Traces of a rectangular enclosure (dims. 40m NE-SW; 40m NW-SE) are visibel defined by a wide low bank and traces of fosse at SE and SW and by field fences elsewhere. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload/revision: 22 May, 2012
