What is recorded here

Situated in a slight hollow in a low-lying landscape with the source of a small E-W stream c. 180m to the N. It is marked as a clump of bushes on the 1924 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. There is a small cairn of quartz stones (diam. 1.2m) on a slight rise (diam. c. 10m) in the 'Relig field'. There is a strong local tradition about the burial of infants at this location. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload/revision: 2 May, 2012
