A parcel of land amounting to 1700 acres in the townlands of Ballingale, Ballycarney Tombrack and the unknown Bolliboy, Balimorogh, Castle Ormond and Gurraduff (Corrah?) in the parish of Ferns was owned by Thorentone, Richard Wale and Bartholomew Beirne in 1641 (Simington 1953, 265). In addition to the slate house (WX015-007----) at Ballycarney, two mills and two weirs on the River Slaney were on the property. This mill remains unlocated.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
