Church (in ruins) — Tomgarrow (scarawalsh By.)

Located at the edge of a small plateau on a SW-facing slope with a NW-SE stream c. 80m to the SW. The N wall of the church (T 0.85m) was described as clay-bonded in the 1940s (SMR file), but it is now reduced to a scarp (L 12m; H 0.3–0.5m) oriented ENE–WSW. It is within a rectangular graveyard (dims c. 40m NE-SW: c. 25m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank with trees, and the graveyard has headstones dating from c. 1764 to 1808. In the graveyard there is a plain granite cross with a semicircular cross-section and a shaft narrowing towards the intersection (H 0.67m; Wth 0.47m; max. T 0.2m), which is probably 18th century in date. A fragment of a curved cut stone, probably from a pointed doorway that was present in the 1940s (SMR file), cannot be found now. Rath (WX015-005----) is c. 50m to the NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996).
