What is recorded here

Situated on a SE-facing slope c. 70m NW of St. Evan's cathedral (WX015-003003-). Archaeological testing (03E0254) identified areas of activity over extensive parts of a development site (Sheehan 2006). Further work (04E0535) in Area B excavated a flat cemetery consisting of at least 6 cremation pits, two of which had fragments of undecorated pottery. The cremation pits were intermingled with other pits, some of which had post-medieval debris. Numerous post-holes were also dispersed amongst the pits but no structure could be identified. A hut-site (WX015-003025-) was identified c. 15m to the W in Area C. (Kavanagh 2007) Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 30 April, 2012
