According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) a church was owned by Edward Masterson in 1641 (Simington 1953, 161). It was on an extensive estate of 1000 acres in Kilrush parish including land at Borris, Knocknalure, Ballynaberny, Ballycadden and Kiltyle (Kiltilly) townlands. This probably refers to Kilrush parish church (WX010-013001-) in Ballynaberny, although an index to the Survey suggests that the church is in Borris (ibid. 291), in which case it is unlocated.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
