Archaeological testing (12E0306) in an area of c. 7 ha (c. 18acres) c. 250m WSW of the core of Gorey town (WX007-033----) identified and excavated two fulachta fia, three burnt mounds, a pit and a corn-drying kiln. This rectangular spread of burnt mound material (dims 10m ENE-WSW; 5.5m NNW-SSE; max. T 0.5m) in Area F was c. 5m WSW of the fulacht fia (WX007-085004-) on the S side of an E-W steam or drain. Although it was rich in heat-affected stone with moderate charcoal inclusions there were no features beneath the mound and it probably relates to the activity at the fuacht fia.
