What is recorded here

This site is located in the industrial peatlands of Toar Bog. The sighting was recorded in the 2013 Re-assessment Peatland Survey as a NE–SW orientated, transversely laid roundwood and brushwood togher, exposed on the field surface. It was composed of tightly packed transverse elements (max. L1m, Diam. 0.01-0.11m), several of which had bark present, and most of which were broken along their lengths from machinery passing over it. They were one to two layers deep in places. The site was situated in moderately humified Sphagnum-rich pool peat (Whitaker 2014). A fragment of birch was chosen for AMS dating and returned a result of cal. AD 1411–1456 (UBA 26610).
