What is recorded here

This site is located in the industrial peatlands of Toar Bog. The sighting was recorded in the 2013 Re-assessment Peatland Survey as a disperse arrangement of light brushwood, twigs and pegs exposed on the field surface. One of the elements had a chisel point toolmarked end that consisted of a single flat facet. The peat was poor to moderately humified Sphagnum peat with Calluna and Eriophorum inclusions (Whitaker 2014). A fragment of willow was chosen for AMS dating and returned a result of cal. AD 982–1034 (UBA 26605). Compiled by: Jane Whitaker, Femke Vleeshouwer Date of upload: 03/03/2020
