The site (L 77.04m min.; Wth 3.4m; D 0.52m) is orientated NNW-SSE and constructed primarily of longitudinal brushwood and twigs. It is composed of a dense deposit of longitudinal mixed brushwood (diam. 0.02-0.056m), 816 elements deep deposited in a single layer. A concentration of material at the SW side of the site was noted at several locations and a fragment of a split and trimmed roundwood were recorded at one sighting. The density and depth of the material varies along the length of the site and the width (Wth 2-3.4m) fluctuates from S-N. In addition, the level of the base of the structure falls by 0.86m from the S to the N of the site. Amongst the wood species identified are willow, alder, ash, birch, hazel and Pomoideae. The site has been extensively damaged by milling at several sightings and the condition of the wood varies from poor to excellent. The site crosses a variety of peat types which consist chiefly of moderately to well-humified Sphagnum peat containing fibrous remains. This site has been radiocarbon dated to cal. AD 1284-1421 (UCD-0146). SMR WM039-261---- is situated 4.5m from the most N end of the site.
