What is recorded here

According to the Urban Survey (Bradley et. al. 1985, 103) 'there is no documentary evidence to determine whether the town was protected by defences or not but the burgage plots on the N and S sides of Main St. terminate in a continuous wall which could have functioned as the town defences. The wall lacks mural towers or defensive features, however. It is between 2 and 2.5m in height on the S side and averages 60cm in width'. Compiled by: R. Barrett Date of upload: 20 November 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
