What is recorded here

Situated on the S spur of a small hillock (200ft/61m OD), in rough pasture. Depicted on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a subcircular-shaped earthwork. Monument described in 1977 as an oval-shaped area (dims. 53m E-W; 55m N-S) defined by a scarp. There seems to be later stone facing to the scarp at NW and from E-ESE-SSE. There is no trace of an external fosse. There is a gap in the scarp at NNE and SSE, although it is unclear which may be the original entrance. The interior has an E-facing slope with no apparent structures visible. Monument is visible today as an oval-shaped tree-lined earthwork on Digital Globe aerial photography, the surrounding area has been planted with modern forestry. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 29 November 2019

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
