What is recorded here

The site (L 3.74m min.; Wth 1.23m min.; D 0.1m) is orientated NE-SW and consists of a hurdle panel of approximately twenty transverse sails (diam. 0.015-0.05m) which occur in groups of two or three. Woven around the sails are approximately ten rods (diam. 0.02-0.04m). The site rises slightly at its SW extent where there are a further six possible sails. The wood is in moderate condition and there are a number of metal-cut toolmarks present. Nineteen pieces were identified as hazel. This site lies in poorly humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum. Radiocarbon dated to 2113-1740 cal. BC (UCD0207). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 26 July 2013
