Situated on S-facing slope of a high hill, in pasture, with commanding views to E, S and W. Ballintober House 300m to SW. Possible ringfort (WM031-046----) lies c. 106m to SW. Depicted as a circular grove of trees and not as an antiquity on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map. Monument described in 1973 as a roughly circular-shaped area (diam. 30m) enclosed by a low earth and stone scarp. There are the remains of a low drystone wall set on top of the scarp from WSW-W-WNW. A field boundary running NW-SE adjoins the scarp at ENE. No clear entrance feature visible. The interior is level and some oak trees grow within and on the scarp. This may have been a ringfort which was converted into a landscaped tree ring in the post-1700 period. Monument is visible today as a circular-shaped tree-planted area on Digital Globe aerial photography.
