What is recorded here

Situated on the W slope of a high hill, with good views to the W & S. Ringfort (WM031-005----) lies c. 70m to W. Depicted on the 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a small circular-shaped earthwork. Monument described in 1973 as a roughly circular-shaped area (approx. diam. 30m) enclosed by a bank of earth & stone with slight traces of an external fosse. The bank has been destroyed on the S & SW sides. The interior is relatively flat & featureless. Monument is visible today as a tree-covered earthwork on Digital Globe aerial photography. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 12 November 2019

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
