There is no evidence to suggest that Baltrasna Castle was located on the grounds of Baltrasna House. Not depicted or annotated on any ed. OS maps. According to Cox (1972, 42) there is reference to a Ballinacaslane in 1588, which is otherwise ‘the old castle of Balletrasney’. Part of ‘the old castle’ is thought to be incorporated into the present Baltrasna House (ibid). Baltrasna House visited in 1983 and no obvious traces of any medieval castle or any medieval stonwework from a castle was identified at this location. Without cartographic evidence the siting of the medieval castle of Baltrasna remains unlocated within the townland of Baltrasna.
