Natural spring well known as ‘Fooran Well’ located 60m to SW of site of Abbey (WM030-035----). The monument was inspected in 1973 and described as follows: ‘A small well enclosed by natural rocks & overhung by some low bushes. A small stream runs out of the well. The well is situated on a slope’ (SMR File). In 1982 the well was revisited and described as follows: ‘a circular depression in the ground. This is now simply a dry circular hollow. However it is the only feature in the area which might have been “Fooran Well”’ (SMR File). There is no evidence to suggest that this natural spring well was the site of a holy well.
