Carrick graveyard situated in gently undulating pasture. Sub-triangular-shaped area (approx. dims. 50m N-S x 56m E-W) with Carrick church ruins (WM026-083----) standing in N quadrant, enclosed by post-1700 stone wall. Burial place of Fr. Timothy Shanley who died in 1835 located to E of church ruins now frequented by visitors who have left votive offerings over the grave. According to local information Fr. Thady Shanley, parish priest of Milltown and Meedin, was the last hunted priest in County Westmeath. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 04 November 2019
