Situated on top of a slight rise, in gently undulating pasture, with extensive views to N. Russellstown House 80m to W. Depicted on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map as a roughly circular-shaped earthwork annotated ‘fort’. Monument described in 1971 as a D-shaped area (dims. 28m E-W; 18m N-S) which appears to represent the N half of an originally circular-shaped monument. It is defined by a high steep scarp (H 1.8m) from W-N-NE, which has been partially removed from NE-E. A low, linear scarp defines the straight side to S, where the site has been truncated and the S half of the monument levelled. There is no trace of an external fosse or an outer bank. The site is planted with trees. Possibly a ringfort that was re-used as a tree-ring by the occupants of Russellstown House in the post-1700 period.
